Overview

Pearson Literature Grades 9-12 include partially-aligned materials for Gateway 1. The texts with which students engage are mostly engaging and are at the right levels of rigor and complexity. The materials partially meet the expectations of text-based questions, writing, speaking and listening activities, and language information. The materials for Grade 10 partially meet the expectations of building knowledge and growing students’ academic vocabulary, with some coherence in instruction needed to address the shifts in the standards and thoroughly support students’ advancing literacy skills. The materials for Grades 9 , 11, and 12 do not meet the overall expectations of building knowledge and vocabulary. They include some materials that integrate standards in service of building knowledge and growing critical literacy skills, but these are inconsistent over the course of the school year.
